Gee, drugs really will kill you. Gosh.
Singer from Alice in Chains, alone and dead for TWO WEEKS in his apartment before anyone missed him enough to go look for him.
Of course, this will just perpetuate the myth of the tortured artist musician personality, as if you have to shoot dope just to have some kind of insight into the human condition and be creative. The music press will hype it up, per usual, and play up the whole rock star thing. Bottom line, the guy obviously had major problems, and you can't make records when you are dead. Anyone who thinks the drug and rock star lifestyle is glamourous, probably would think otherwise after getting a nostril full of what that apartment, with a two-week dead junkie in it, smelled like.

Ama Gig News

We had our first real, live, in public, gig with Ama at the Last Day Saloon in San Francisco on Saturday night, April 5th. We had a good crowd, and there were a couple of clams on my part but we pretty much nailed the two sets. We also had a guest fiddle player, er excuse me, violinist with us. I posted the pics of us on stage and hanging out before the gig. HUGE props go to Scott, the bass player from Amboy Kelso, who let me borrow his bass head for the show after mine blew up during our sound check. That sucked.

Pictures from the KGO Gig. I played with Ama during the KGO Luekemia telethon on Saturday. It was big fun, the radio station folks were very nice, and they had killer gear for us to use, which was wierd because it is a talk/news station. I put up all the pictures here. You can see everyone in the band plus some of the radio station personalities like Micheal Finney, R.J. Peruman, Gene Burns, and Lynn Himenez. Don't know if we are going to get a recording of it or not. Hopefully we will get some bookings out of all that publicity.

Big Gig News - This Saturday, March 23rd I will be playing with Ama Ofuso-Barko at KGO AM 810 radio during their Lukemia Cure-A-Thon. We will be playing about 5 or 6 songs from Ama's excellent CD. Tune in and listen! KGO can be heard just about anywhere on the west coast of the US. I have been able to tune it in as far away as Seattle.

I have posted a transcription to a blues written by Paul Chambers, entitled Whims of Chambers. This is the melody, which is played by both the bass and guitar on Paul's recording. Solo over your favorite blues changes!
Enjoy, my plan is to include more transcriptions in the future.

I learned how to pull a very very stuck truck out of a mud bog today. My friend Mike has a Jeep with a winch and was nice enough to help someone who my wife knew that had gotten herself stuck. My wife's friend had driven her truck into a field, and become stuck up past her axle. Mike yanked out her truck in about 45 minutes.
